Funeral Services for Gerrie will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Fisher Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. A Visitation for the Family will be held at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
She was born on May 19, 1940 to the late Walter Wesson Lewis and Evelyn Lewis in Manila, Arkansas. Gerrie Culp spent her younger years growing up in Arkansas with her parents, brothers and sisters. She married LTC (ret.) Ray Culp on April 3, 1959, and they were married 52 years until his death in 2010. She spent 30 years as a wonderful officers wife and stay at home mom. Gerrie was always there for her daughters while they were growing up- baking cookies, family dinners every night, and picking them up from the bus stop in the rain. Gerrie was an amazing grandmother that loved and cared for each of her grandchildren and in the last years of her life, very much enjoyed her great-grandchildren.
Gerrie was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gerrie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Culp; two brothers, Donnie Lewis and Kenny Lewis; and her grandchild, Christopher.
Gerrie is survived by two sisters, Mary Ellen Kimble and Judy Marta (Jim); three daughters, Lonna Black (Chris), Laura Courson, Leslie Jones (Terry); seven grandchildren, Michelle Pike, Gary Pike, Michael Dean Courson (Suzanne), Danielle Courson, Whitney Landrum, Zach Jones, Jillian Gribbin (Ryan); twelve great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Dean Courson.
