Caroline was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on May 29, 1943 to James and Montine Crawford. She graduated from New Canaan High School in Connecticut then went on to get a teaching degree at Auburn University.
Caroline met her husband, Stacy, on the steps of Sanford Hall at Auburn. They married in 1965 and went on to have 3 children, Theron, Montine, and Ruth Ann.
Caroline taught elementary school for many years, touching the lives of many students, parents, and coworkers. If you knew Caroline, you knew her love of gardening. She spent countless hours pouring into her backyard oasis. Visitors to her home did not leave without an arrangement of cut flowers, bounty from her garden, and/or a cutting from her plants. She became a Master Gardener and was active with the Columbus Botanical Gardens and the Daylily Society.
Caroline was a faithful servant of Christ and a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus where she spent numerous hours volunteering with and through the church. She loved her Thursday Bible Study and the friendships that came with it.
In honor of her love of education, she has donated her body to science so others can learn. Afterwards, she will be cremated and her urn be placed lovingly in her garden.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Stacy; son Theron, his wife Coco, and their children Dora and James; daughter Montine; and daughter Ruth Ann Baird, her husband Pat Baird, and their children Caroline and John.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church 2pm Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Presbyterian Church or Columbus Hospice.
