Cecil Lamar Bass

Cecil Lamar Bass, 84, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 11, 2026. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 891 Lee Road, Phenix City, Alabama 36870.

Cecil was born June 18, 1941, in Columbus, Georgia to the late Mary Katherine and George Bass. He loved tending to his vibrant garden or lost in the rigged tales of a classic western. A faithful member of his church and follower of Christ, he drew a great strength and joy from his Sunday mornings in the pews. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Stewart; his daughter, Donna Gowen (Jerry); his grandchildren, Jennifer Byerley (Clark Findley) and Jerry Gowen Jr. and his great granddaughter, Rosalie Byerley. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 58 years, Patricia Bass; his son, Michael Bass; his brother, Don Bass and his sister, Jeanette Griffith.
