

SFC (Ret.) Charles Thomas Williamson, 77, of Box Springs, GA passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Sammie Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Mill Room, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Mr. Williamson, son of the late Mary and Lovey Williamson, was born April 3, 1939 in Monticello, MS. He served his country honorably for 20 years as a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army, with two tours during the Vietnam Era Conflict. After retirement, he continued to work at Ft. Benning’s Civil Service with the Fish and Wildlife Division and also Supply. Mr. Williamson was a member of Upatoi Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family, was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors.
Other than his parents, Mr. Williamson is preceded in death by his sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Chris M. Williamson of Box Springs, GA; two sons, Marck Williamson of Columbus, GA and Eric T. Williamson (Rachel) of Box Springs, GA; grandchildren Jacob, Evan and Karaline; great grandson Hunter; step grandchildren Madeline, Lexi and Jonathan and numerous friends.
