Charlotte Ann Matthews, age 66, of Cataula, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 after a short illness. Charlotte was born February 22, 1952 in Russellville, Kentucky, the daughter of James Lawrence Greene and Wilma Lee Venerable Greene. On August 21, 1976 she married the love of her life Michael Eugene Matthews. Charlotte was very well rounded and educated, graduating with a Master’s Degree from the University of Kentucky; obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and attending Florida State University. She was a licensed pilot, former member of AOPA, also a former member of The Ninety-Nines, a women’s aviation organization in which Amelia Earhart was a founding member. She was an avid reader of books; she enjoyed cross stitching and sharing her talents with her many friends.
Mrs. Matthews is preceded in death by her parents James Lawrence Greene and Wilma Lee Venerable Greene. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael Matthews; daughter, Whitney Lee Matthews, currently residing in Tokyo, Japan and her brother, Fred Greene of Russellville, Kentucky.
Family and friends with gather for a Visitation Friday, September 14, 2018 from 1:00 pm- 4:50 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus Georgia. Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 pm in Edgewood Hall Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.
