Cynthia Jones Wolford

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Dr. Tom Stephenson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wolford was born December 21, 1947 in Rome, GA to the late Houston and Geraldine Olive Jones. She was a member of the National League of Pen Women, past Historian, Pine Mountain Chamber of Commerce, Chipley Woman’s Club. She was on the Board of Family Connections of Harris County, current Chair of the Adhoc Committee, the Columbus Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Gracious Ladies of Georgia. She was a member of MENSA. Mrs. Wolford was also a volunteer in the American Cancer Society’s Reach for Recovery Program and on their Leadership Council of Harris County. She was also a Relay for Life Volunteer and fund raiser.

Cynthia was at her most peaceful watching the creek or sitting by the fire reading a book or sewing & knitting. She loved her Robert so much (they celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on Feb 3rd)and together they have two amazing sons who she raised to be proud upstanding gentlemen. She loved her granddaughters and taught them grace and dignity in whatever they were doing and we all will miss her wisdom and love. She was the epitome of a gracious lady who loved to be surrounded by her family and loved ones. She will be missed as a gracious , loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. Family and friends will find comfort in knowing that each time they stop to admire a lovely sunset, or see a harvest moon, or a moon with a ring around it, she will be at their sides, enjoying it with them.

Survivors include her loving husband, Robert H. Wolford of Pine Mountain, GA; two sons, CPT Robert Jeffrey Wolford of Ringgold, GA, and Douglas H. Wolford and his wife, Susan of Columbus, GA; three grandchildren, Daisy Wolford, Laureen Wolford, and Annabelle Wolford.
