

He faithfully served his country in the United States Army. David served during the Vietnam conflict and retired after over 23 years. During his service some of his decorations, medals, citations and campaign ribbons awarded include: National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Veitnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Star & 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Ranger Tab, Branze Star Medal w/ V Device & 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Expert (M-16), 5 Overseas Service Bars, 7 Service Stripes. He was married to the late Betty Jo Bryant Hookahi together they made Columbus, Georgia home. After David's retirement from the Army he continued to work with the U.S. Government through the Civil Service at Fort Benning. David enjoyed bowling, he traveled throughout the United States to tournaments with his bowling league.
A visitation for family and friends for David will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
