David Schofield, age 68, resident of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Facility. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Monday, April 16, 2018, 3 p.m. with Reverend Ken Savage officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 1:30pm till 2:30pm.
Mr. Schofield, son of the late Charles Woodrow Schofield and Ida Lee Burks Schofield, was born October 10, 1949 in Pensacola, Florida. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflcit with the U.S. Army, and served his country honorably throughout his military career. After leaving the military, he was a cross country truck driver for several years and then he was a heavy equipment operator and worked for the City of Atlanta for over 20 years. David enjoyed spending time on his Harley and loved fishing and camping. He was Baptist by faith.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda Lynn Rocha Schofield. He is survived by three step-children, Charles Cowart of Savannah, Georgia, Shaundra Jackson of Atlanta, and Tom Sanders also of Atlanta; two sisters, Shirley LaPlante and her husband Richard of Columbus and Joan Head and her husband David of Ellerslie, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
