Donald Rae Pope

Donald Rae Pope, age 38, resident of Phenix City, AL., died on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, on Friday, December 30, 2011, 1 p.m. with Rev. Mickey Kirkland and Rev. Stan Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 5-7 p.m.

Don, son of Donald and Lynda Pope, was born June 13, 1973 in Columbus . He was employed at Southern Rewinding and Sales, where he worked for over 22 years. Don was a loving husband and father and loved by many. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Don was a 1991 graduate of Jordan High School.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Kim Pope of Phenix City, AL; one daughter, Sarah Pope of Phenix City, AL; parents, Donald and Lynda Pope of Columbus; four sisters, Lacretia Pope of Jacksonville, FL, Dee Elkins (Johnny) of Smiths, AL, Jenifer Tant (Billy) of Harris County, GA, and Dera Burkes (Billy) of Johnson City, TN; mother and father in law, Calvin and Marilyn King; sister-in-law, Lisa Sinclair (Mark); several nieces and nephews.
