Doris B. Timms

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 3:00pm in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers her family requests donations to be made to North Macon Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 5707 Rivoli Dr. Macon, GA 31210, or the charity of your choice.

Doris was born on November 17, 1922 in Lee County, Alabama to the late Hettie Parker Bennett and Otis Bennett. She was married to the late Albert M. Timms. Mrs. Timms was a member of Sherwood Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Georgia where she also served as an elder. She was a member of the Pilot Club of Columbus where she was past president, active in Gracious Ladies of Columbus, and a member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters. She was also the bookkeeper and personnel manager at WRBL channel 3 in Columbus, GA.

Survivors include her sons, John (Ann) Timms of Macon, GA and Michael Timms (Nancy T. Bissell) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren: Angela (Eric) Lavely of Valdosta, GA and Amy (Davey) Deal of Macon, Ga; and five great- grandchildren.
