Born on April 29, 1941, in Crenshaw County, Alabama, Dovie Jean Long lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family. She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Church, where she found joy in worship and fellowship with her church family. Dovie was known for her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her kindness, wisdom, and strong Christian faith touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Davis Kyle Long; her parents, Isaiah and Zelma Edwards; her brothers, Thomas Edwards and Henry Guy Edwards; and her sisters, Bertie Lee Lebaron, Fannie Pearl Johnson, and Annie Valera Rolling.
Dovie leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her sons, Ben (Dana) Long and Timothy (Tammy) Long; her grandchildren, Keller (Taylor) Long, Abbey (Justin) Wright, Jacob (Brooke) Starling, and Cody Starling; and her precious great-grandchildren, EmmaLeigh Jane Long, Kash Long, Harris Wright, and Kamp Long, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Though her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she is resting peacefully in the presence of her Savior.
