His Funeral Mass is scheduled at Holy Family Catholic Church, 320 12th Street, Columbus on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 12 Noon with Father Ben Dallas officiating. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:45 pm to 8:00 pm immediately after the Rosary on Monday.
Mr. Fernandez, son of the late Santos Fernandez and Felicia Rodriguez, was born August 5, 1930 in Guiness, Cuba. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and worked over 32 years for Goody Products, Inc. in Manchester, GA. Mr. Fernandez was a founding parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Manchester, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Maria Fernandez.
Mr. Fernandez is survived by his one daughter, Silvia Ugalde of Flushing, NY; two sons, Dr. Ed Fernandez, Jr. (Cindy) of Pine Mountain, GA and Dr. Agustin Suarez of New Orleans, LA; three grandchildren - Dr. Jocelyn Smith (Craig), USAF Capt. Alex Fernandez (Marisa), and Greyson Fernandez, all of Columbus; four great-grandchildren - Dylan Smith, Logan Smith, Brayden Smith, and Camila Smith of Columbus.
