

Elizabeth “Bette” Kalb Floyd, age 83, resident of Columbus, died on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Morningside Assisted Living Facility. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, 1 p.m. with Rev. (Dr.) Kevin Calhoun. Private Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Floyd, daughter of the late Frederick Jefferson Kalb and Maude Nilah Lassiter Kalb, was born August 15, 1928 in Dublin, GA. She was retired from the Muscogee County School District as a Media Specialist with over 37 ½ years of dedicated service. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church and the former Wynnton Baptist Church for over 62 years and was the original librarian for both churches. She was also a member of the Christian Fellowship Association and National Historic Preservation. Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brown Floyd , Sr. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Beth Hendricks and her husband Harlan of Columbus; one son, Jack B. Floyd, Jr. and his wife Karen of Columbus; one brother, Henry Kalb and his wife Martha Ann of Bradenton, FL; two grandchildren, Sarah Hendricks and Nathan Hendricks, both of Columbus; step-granddaughter, Lauren Champion of Columbus; other relatives and friends. The family would like to recognize and thank long time care giver, Jackie Easley; the other sitters that devoted many hours towards her care; and the staff of Vista Care Hospice and Morningside Assisted Living Facility.
