

Elladees Witcher Lowery, age 74, resident of Columbus, died on Friday, September 24, 2010 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on September 27, 2010, 3 p.m. with Reverend David Rathel officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. Mrs. Lowery, daughter of the late Ira Leonard Witcher and Osie Bearden Witcher, was born July 29, 1936 in Fairmount, GA. She was a member of Rivertown Church and was retired from Gayfers where she faithfully served for over 26 years. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Witcher. Mrs. Lowery is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Hilbert T. Lowery of Columbus; two daughters, Kathie B. Childres of Daphne, AL and Krystal B. Garro and her husband Chris, also of Daphne, AL; one son, David H. Lowery and his wife Vicky of Milledgeville, GA; three step-sons, Terry Lowery and his wife Mary, Kenneth Lowery, and Michael W. Lowery, all of Milledgeville, GA; two brothers, Dewey L. Evans of Macon, GA and Leonard H. Witcher of Kennesaw, GA; two precious grandchildren, Steven Lane Stewart, Jr and Dylan Chase Lowery; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three very close devoted friends, Kay Peters, Earlyn Hays, Robert George; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Flowers are accepted or contributions can be made to John B. Amos Cancer Center or Columbus Hospice House.
