Eugene Marion deBrabant

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. A visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the Chapel of the Pines.

Eugene was born on December 15, 1942, in Columbus, GA. to the late August Lincoln deBrabant, Sr. and Rada Phelts deBrabant. Eugene lived his entire life in Columbus. He is a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. He retired from Goldens’ Foundry, after more than 30 years as a Machinist. At Goldens he also served as assistant treasurer of their Credit Union. Eugene loved traveling to the beach and mountains, watching the Georgia Bulldogs, but most of all his family and friends.

Other than his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by his siblings, June Claycomb, August deBrabant, Jr. and Lamar deBrabant.

He is survived by his wife, Sue deBrabant of Columbus, GA. daughters, Michelle Lee (Scott) of Johns Creek, GA. and Melissa Lynn Burt of Columbus, GA. sons, Michael Eugene deBrabant and Ricky Eugene Burt of Columbus, GA. grandson, Jacob Lee (Sheida) of New Orleans, LA. great grandchildren, Cyrus Lee and Cassi Lee and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Columbus Hospice or your favorite Charity in memory of this kind and generous man.
