George Andrew "Andy" Farmer, age 81 passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. A family graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating in Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, Georgia. The family will receive friends for a celebration of life from 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road.

Andy was born on March 16, 1944, in Gadsden, Alabama. He spent most of his youth with his parents and brothers in Blackshear, Georgia. He was the son of the late Guy Franklin Farmer and the late Opal Jesse McFry Farmer. Andy graduated from Blackshear High School. He attended the University of Georgia and later joined the United States Army. During his years of service, he was stationed at several Army bases in the United States and overseas in South Korea.
Andy met the love of his life, Molly Watkins Farmer while stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. They married on May 12, 1973, in Columbus, Georgia. Molly and Andy lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a few short years and then moved to Columbus, Georgia. Molly and Andy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending Auburn football games, sporting events, and spending time on the Gulf Coast, especially Biloxi, MS.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Pam Watkins Young (Andy); brother in law, Eddie Branch; nephew, Richard Young (Allison); nephew, Drew Young (Della); nephew, Jason Branch (Cile); niece, Kelly Branch; niece Amy Penne (Bryan); niece, Dana Ward (Bob); niece Shirley Closson (Eldridge); and nephew Frank Farmer; and several great nephews and nieces. Also included and deeply treasured are his caregivers: Alicia Harris Jones, Rena Davis (Nurse), Shandrika Williams, Bria Oestricher; and many friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Molly Watkins Farmer; brother, Guy F. Farmer, Jr.; brother, Michael Farmer; and sister-in-law, Frances "Fran" Watkins Branch.
