Gerald “Jerry” Frank Lebish, born on February 1, 1937, in Northampton, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 88. A visitation will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Fisher Chapel, located at 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, on December 17, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 2:50 pm the funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm.
Jerry was raised in Northampton, Pennsylvania, following high school he joined the U.S. Army. He served from 1954 until his retirement in 1982. During his service Jerry was a paratrooper, sniper, a sniper instructor, and served two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement he worked for the State of Georgia as a prison guard and then as a probation officer for Muscogee County. Jerry never stopped learning and realized the importance of volunteering and serving others, he graduated from Troy University, he was a member of The Columbus-Ft. Benning Shriners Club and was a member of the Masons.
Jerry married Janie Elkins in October of 1998 in Columbus Georgia. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, and grilling in the backyard for his family. He loved his family and was very proud of his service to his country.
Jerry is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Mary; a grandson, Gordon Clinton Drawdy; and a great granddaughter, Kaitlyn E. Drawdy.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Janie; children, Randy (Sandy) Lebish, Susan (Rob) Carrubba, Judy Lebish, Lisa (Johnny) Carden, Kim Lebish, Fred (Wanda) Morpeth, Grif (Shannon) Morpeth; grandchildren, Stacy (Daniel) Weatherell, Stephanie Turner, Robert (Danielle) Turner, Alecia (Kyle) Herndon, Shaun (Mallory) Carden, Brice (Ellie) Morpeth, Preston (Maria) Morpeth, Jake Morpeth, Annelise Morpeth; 10 great grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Robert Gaza, Stella Rose, Helen Elizabeth, Edwin, Roger Anthony, Lorretta Theresa, and Mary Ann (Linda Gober).
