A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia with Pastor David Lix officiating. Her family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the St. Elmo room at Striffler-Hamby.
Gladys Mavis Gibson Powell was born on December 8, 1928 in Troy, Alabama to the late Ollie Lee Flowers Gibson and Wilburn Willie Gibson. She was married to the late James I. Powell. Gladys was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her six children; Sue Howle (Tom Howle), Patricia Kingsbury (Jim Miller), Elizabeth Carter (Sam Carter), Mary Frost (Jack Frost), James S. Powell (Renee Powell), Bill J. Powell (Terri Powell); sixteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; sister, Eva Nell Gibson; brother, Joe Gibson; and numerous other relatives.
