Helen P. Patterson

Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, on Saturday, December 11, 2010, 10 a.m. with Reverend (Dr.) LeBron Matthews and Reverend David Helms officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 4-6 p.m.

Mrs. Patterson, daughter of the late Charles Edgar Powers and Emma Hardin Powers, was born January 1, 1923 in Phenix City, AL. She was retired from the Muscogee County School District, where she dedicated over 38 years of faithful service. Mrs. Patterson was a Charter Member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Patterson; a son, Steve Patterson; two sisters, Frances Powers Newsome and Martha Powers Reynolds; two brothers, Ben Powers and Bill Powers.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by one son, James “Jim” E. (Sandra) Patterson, Jr of Columbus; one brother, Robert J. Powers of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Jean Patterson of Columbus; six grandchildren, James Carlton (Linda) Patterson, Mynon (Stan) Millwood, Michael (Jennifer) Patterson, Jonathan (Becky) Patterson, Jeffrey (Brandi) Patterson, and Dana (Jerry) Grambow; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
