Hilda was born July 18, 1928 in Webster County, Georgia; the daughter of Zack Monkus Jr. and Annie Louise Woody Monkus. Hilda married William Warner Morris in 1952 and they raised their daughter in Columbus. Hilda was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. She lived her life to the fullest, was always happy, never met a stranger, and had more energy than the energizer bunny. She made the best biscuits from scratch and enjoyed sharing that knowledge and skill with her family. Hilda could always see the good in every person and taught others how to laugh through hard times. She enjoyed animals, being in the outdoors, exercising, and her many friends, especially her friends at the Turner Y.M.C.A. Silver Sneakers group. Hilda loved chocolate and music, particularly Elvis and Ernest Tubb. However, nothing could compare to the love she had for her family, she cherished the times that they were able to be together.
Hilda is preceded in death by: her husband, William; her sisters, Elsie Elizabeth Flavin, Mary Ann Summerford; and her parents.
Survivors include: her daughter, Sheree Denise Morris (Kent); her granddaughter, Julia Anna Morris (Aaron); her grandson, William Matthew Leonard; great-grandson, Thomas Warner Meeks; brother, William Henry Monkus (Betty Jo); sister, Betty Lee Murphy (Clarence †); brother, Morris Guy Monkus (Annette); sisters-in-law, Gertrude Anne Johnson (Carl †), Betty Sue Whiddon (Ellis †), Rita Louise Dennis (Henry); and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Flavin, Douglas Lafayette Morris (Jeanette).
