A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Riverdale Cemetery, under the pavilion, Columbus, Georgia with Reverend Charles Hays officiating. His family will visit with friends after the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Welch was born in Columbus, Georgia on June 2, 1923 to the late Quilla Howard Welch and Idas Daniel Welch. He served his country faithfully during World War II. Mr. Welch was a Real Estate Broker in the Columbus area after graduating the University of Georgia; he was also a member of the American Legion Post 35 for 50 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Lillie Kate Welch.
Survivors include his children: Diane Welch White, Idas Welch, Jr., Shirley Welch (Constance) Ray, Judith Welch (Bill) Flowers, and Barbara Paul; nine grandsons, two granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives.
