Jackie Foster Conley of Columbus, GA passed away on the morning of October 2, 2010 after a long illness. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Foster of Canton, GA, and the wife of the late Richard L. Conley of Savannah, GA.
She is survived by four children, Carolyn A. Conley of Birmingham, AL, Les and Cindy Conley of Canton, GA, Doug Conley of Plano, TX, and Henry Conley of Columbus, GA. Three grandchildren also survive- Jennifer Martin of Marietta, GA, and Lance and Jimmy Conley of Atlanta, GA.
Mrs. Conley was a lifelong musician, having played regularly at church services over the past 60 years in Canton, Savannah, and for the past 40 years at Edgewood United Methodist Church at Columbus, GA. She was also an accompanist for Columbus State University, the Springer Opera House, and the Three Arts Theater. She taught privately for 58 years in both Columbus and Savannah.
She was a Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor Fine Arts. She later earned a Master of Education degree from Columbus State University. She was a member of several professional organizations, including the American Organ Guild, the National Music Educators Association, and she served as President of the Columbus Orpheus Club.
Memorial service will be 3:30pm at Edgewood Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 with Reverend Roy White officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary 4071 Macon Road Columbus.
The family will receive friends from 1:30pm-3:30pm at Edgewood Methodist Church on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the National Audubon Society or Save the Children.
