A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. Family will visit before the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens on St. Mary’s Road following the funeral service. Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Williams, Scott Parker, Danny Balkcom, Keith Burns, Jesse Hampton, and Al Hero.
He was born on October 12, 1939 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Clessie Howell Dudley and Edward Fuller Dudley. James faithfully served his country in the United States Army. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he married his sweetheart and the love of his life Martha J. Balkcom. James and Martha settled in Cataula, Georgia where he operated his trucking company, Dudley Trucking. When he was not working, James enjoyed fishing and traveling with his loving wife, Martha. Some of their trips were to Biloxi MS, Cherokee, NC and Pigeon Forge, TN among the many cruises with family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Clessie Mae Howell and Edward Fuller Dudley; his sisters: Nancy Faye Self and Linda Elaine McDowell; and his brother, Edward Eugene Dudley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Dudley; sister Nellie Lucille Rainey (Danny); sister-in-law, Linda Sue Burns (Keith); godson, Scott Parker; and a host of other family members.
