
James Blanchard Huff, Jr., resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, 3 p.m. with Reverend Cindy Garrard officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the brother’s residence, 1919 Flournoy Drive, Columbus, immediately following the service.
Mr. Huff, son of the late James Blanchard Huff and Helen Flournoy Huff Hudson, was born April 6, 1941 in Columbus. He attended Columbus schools and graduated from Sewanee Military Academy. Mr. Huff then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia, receiving a B.B.A, and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He then began a career in banking with Columbus Bank and Trust, where he advanced to Senior Investment Officer. He subsequently moved to Memphis, Tennessee and managed the Bond Department of Morgan Keegan. Later he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where he took over the Bond Department for Stephens and Company. Mr. Huff then began his own firm in 1989 and was highly regarded as a financial planner. He was later recognized in Florida Trend Magazine as one of the top investment advisors in the state of Florida.
Mr. Huff was a lifelong member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, was on the Board of Historic Columbus, and was instrumental in development of The Girls Club of Columbus. He was an avid fisherman, loved photography, and above all loved motor sports.
He is survived by three children, Arden (husband Reynolds and daughter Dorothy) Cheney , James Blanchard (wife Lisa and daughters Cecilia and Nancy) Huff III, and their mother Judy (husband George) Hubbard, and Lacey (fiance' Zachary Harbuck) Huff and her mother, Kim Huff; two sisters, Jeanette (Nelson) Arrington of Greenville, South Carolina, and Virginia (Bob) Parker of Ketchum, Idaho; one brother, William C. (Maudie) Huff of Columbus; other relatives and friends.
