James "Jim" Register March 31, 1927 - October 16, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA — James "Jim" Register, age 83, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Columbus Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Pines Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 11 a.m. with Reverend Clark Standard officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Register, son of the late Hugh Albert Register and Jessie Fowler Register, was born March 31, 1927 in Graceville, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably during the Korea Era Conflict. Mr. Register was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Register and also a daughter, JoAnn Peterson. He is survived by one brother, Benny Register and his wife, Dot of Graceville, FL; one sister, Peggy Geissler and her husband, Louie of Santa Rosa, CA; two grandsons, Wayne Peterson and his wife, Jodie of Dallas, GA and Lee Peterson and his wife, Katie of Rome, GA; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Langham of Rome, GA; faithful partner of over 16 years, Sara Frances Stewart of Columbus; other relatives and friends.
