James, son of the late John Wilson “Frank” Long and Mary Hollis Long, was born on February 2, 1948 into a family of 10 siblings in Salem, AL.
He began his lifelong plumbing career at an early age under the teachings of his father. James willingly shared his expertise and enjoyed helping others when needed. He loved spending time outdoors deer hunting, but his true passion was Bass fishing. A day spent on the lake or in the woods was just a better day, according to James.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Wendy Cunningham Long; daughters Wendy Leiann Kristan, Grace Deneise Long, Ashley Miranda Long; sisters Claudine Wilson, Sherll Davidson, Hazel Wadsworth, Sarah Quigley; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by sisters Jane Monteleone, Dorothy Waldrop, Marie Bulloch, Joyce Eggelton; brothers Calvin Long, Eddie Frank Long.
A private service will be held. To honor his memory, contributions can be made to your local high school fishing program to help a child go fishing.
