

MSG (Ret) Jean F. McCrady, age 84, resident of Columbus, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services with full military honors are scheduled at Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery on Saturday, November 28, 2015, 11 a.m. with Reverend Justin Garner officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 5-7 p.m.
MSG McCrady, son of the late Roland H. McCready and Mary Elizabeth Gardner McCready, was born January 19, 1931 in Keller, Virginia. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he served his country honorably for over 21 years. During his distinguished military career he was awarded several medals and ribbons to include the Bronze Star w/Valor; Air Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars; and Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device 1960. After leaving the military, MSG McCrady began a new career with the Youth Detention Center for the State of Georgia where he worked faithfully for over 20 years. MSG McCrady was Baptist by faith and was a member of the Chosen Few in Korea.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hatsuko Mahara McCrady. MSG McCrady is survived by two sons, Dennis Gene McCrady and his wife Ann of Columbus and David McCrady and his wife Sheila of Hamilton, Georgia; three daughters, Mary Salisbury and her husband Roger of Columbus, Diana Garner and her husband Justin of Box Springs, Georgia and Akiko Chibana of Okinawa, Japan; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Megan, Rebecca, Cody, Myles, Dexter, Gabriel, Christopher, and Heather; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Ronin, Collin, Kyle, Colton, and Carson; one sister, Rebecca Pemberton of Ramseur, North Carolina; many other relatives and friends.
