Jimmy David Dooley, age 66, of Midland, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services to honor Mr. Dooley will be held in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 12:00 Noon with Reverend Dr. Stephen Brinkman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will follow the service at Parkhill Cemetery.
Jim was born the son of the late J.W. Dooley and Helen Christopher Dooley on October 18, 1952 in Summerville, Georgia. He was the proud owner of Southland Marketing, Inc. and a member of Midland United Methodist Church. Jim was an avid golfer, playing many a Saturday mornings at Bull Creek Golf Course. He was fortunate to play golf in Scotland and enjoyed a memorable day at The Masters in 2012. He also enjoyed his Monday night poker games and looked forward to each fall to cheer on his Georgia Bulldogs. He was known as “Paw Paw” to his precious granddaughters who will miss him greatly.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Karen Pavey Dooley; daughter, Lauren Sikes and husband Thomas; granddaughters, Whitley Marie Sikes and Mallory Kate Sikes, all of Midland, Georgia; sister, Doris Eley and niece, Katie Eley, both of Summerville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Connie Jo Pavey of Midland, Georgia and a special cousin Carol Kannard (Jim) of Lenoir City, Tennessee.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jim will be remembered by those near to him with great love and admiration. A heartfelt thank you to his devoted care givers, Lisa Gandy Laird, Alton White, Sanquinetta Davis and Blossom Stanley. The family would also like to thank the caring nurses and staff of Columbus Hospice.
