John Leonard Bradshaw, age 79, of Pensacola, Florida, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work.
John’s true passion in life was driving eighteen-wheelers. For sixty years, he traveled the open roads, spreading kindness wherever he went. The majority of his career was spent with Dolly Madison Bakery, and he later drove for Early Trucking Company based in Arlington, Georgia. To John, his 18-wheeler was more than just a truck—it was his pulpit. He shared hugs, handshakes, prayers, and words of encouragement with everyone he met.
John was affectionately known as “Cowboy” by many, a nod to his signature cowboy hat, big belt buckle, and boots. However, what truly made him unforgettable was his infectious spirit and unwavering love for God and others. He had a gift for making every person he encountered feel seen and valued, often telling complete strangers, “I love you, and more importantly, God loves you.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, many brothers and sisters, his son, Dwayne Bowman, and his wife of 52 years, Gloria Bradshaw.
John’s life was a testament to his faith and devotion to spreading joy and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
He is survived by his brother and best friend, Walter Bradshaw; his children, Howard Bradshaw, Johnny Bradshaw, Ann Varnum, and Debbie Pittman; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00AM. Pastor Tom Owensby will be officiating service. Family will visit with friends an hour prior.
