
John Walter Lucas, 68, of Columbus, Georgia passed on June 12, 2024. John was born in LaGrange, Georgia to the late Modena Hornsby and Henry Owen Lucas. He graduated high school and began college, then becoming an Insurance Salesman primarily for American General. He married his beloved wife, Dorothy “Lindy” Lucas and was a dedicated and loving husband for 40 years. They had two children, Amanda and Jonathan, who completed their family. John was the best husband and father his family could ask for and cared about them dearly. In his free time, John enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball and spending time with his family. He was passionate about billiards and was known as “one hell of a pool player”. He was a great man and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
John Lucas is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Lindy” Lucas; children, Jonathan Lucas of Dallas, GA, and Amanda Tarvin of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Emily Green of Columbus, GA, Brooklynn Lucas and Braden Lucas of Chattanooga, TN, and Maddison Lucas of Dallas, GA; and siblings, Rebecca Coleman of Columbus, GA, Mary Ellen Rickman of Tampa, FL, Paul Lucas of Columbus, GA, Mark Lucas of Phenix City, and Jim Lucas.
John Lucas is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Modena Lucas of Columbus, GA.
