John Alonzo Preskitt

John “Buddy” Alonzo Preskitt, 83, of Ellerslie, GA passed Saturday, October 26, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, November 1, 2011 from 1:00pm-2:45 at Striffler-Hamby.

John was born October 1, 1936 in Cataula, GA, the son of the late John Ernest Preskitt and Mary Ailene Thomason. He married Barbara Pippin Preskitt and they spent 62 cherished years together. His hobbies included watching college football and the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara L. Preskitt of Columbus, GA; son, Jerry Averill of Phenix City, AL; daughter-in-law of over 30 years, Joyce Averill of Phenix City, AL; two step grandchildren, Zeb Harris of Columbus, GA and Charity Hyatt of Columbus, GA; brothers, William "Billy" Preskitt (Becky) of Ellerslie, GA and Paul Ernest Preskitt (Rosa) of Americus, GA; sisters, Eleanor Taft (Bobby) of Columbus, GA and Martha Preskitt of Americus, GA; and he also leaves behind three step great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
