Dr. Jose Louis DuPont

A memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 4:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia. His family will visit with friends after the service.

Jose Louis DuPont was born in Manzanillo, Mexico on January 8, 1924 to the late Jose and Rita DuPont. He lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his aunt and grandmother. He went to medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico. He did his internship in Chicago, Illinois and his residency at Touro Infirmary Hospital in New Orleans, La. He came to Columbus, Georgia and St.Francis Hospital as an intern in 1958. That is where he met his wife, Carolyn Worthington. They were married in January 29, 1961. He became the House Physician at St. Francis Hospital. After he retired from St. Francis at the age of 70, he then was employed with New Horizon. He is also preceded in death by his Brother - Carlos DuPont and granddaughter - Rachel Worth DuPont.

Survivors: Carolyn DuPont (wife), Children: Decie DuPont, Debra DuPont Pittmon, Martin DuPont, Joseph DuPont, Rita DuPont Anderson (Jerry), Rhonda DuPont Goodnight, and Gregory DuPont (Kimberly); Grandchildren: Jessica DuPont McCarthy (Jesse), Samantha DuPont Allen (Sean), Alex DuPont, Zachary DuPont, Frank Pittmon, Caroline Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Jarrett Anderson, Jake DuPont, and Dawson DuPont; Great-grandchildren: Finley McCarthy and Jase Allen; God-daughter: Barbara Harvey McCollum and numerous nieces and nephews.
