Joe was born April 30, 1936 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Claire Mengel Ammon and Joseph William Ammon. Joe served his country proudly in the US Air Force and Michigan Air National Guard. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Dearborn, Michigan, a Boy Scout Troup Leader and a Volunteer at the Henry Ford Museum and Green Field Village. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. He loved to camp and enjoy nature. Joe had a very dry sense of humor but was very fun to be around. He loved his family and will forever be remembered for the way he cared for them and made sure they had a better life.
Joe was preceded in death by father Joseph William Ammon and mother Claire Mengel Ammon; two sisters Dorthy Hickson and Joy Foster (Tom). He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Smith Ammon; daughter Kathy Baisel (Max); and son Craig Ammon (Colleen); grandchildren Tyler and Jacob Baisel, Kaitlyn Thorn (Brennan); and Joey (Laura), Andrew, Josh, and Lizzie Ammon; great-grandchildren Holly, Teddy, and Hazel Ammon; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends.
