Joseph Joe Henry Middleton Sr.

Middleton, Joseph Henry, Sr., passed away on January 13, 2010 at age 72. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

He was born in Gadsden, AL, on January 15, 1938. Joe graduated from Etowah High School. He was the Executive Director of Ace Bonding Company for many years.

Joe was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church as well as playing a major role in the leadership of youth athletic organizations throughout the Columbus community, including serving as President of Columbus Babe Ruth from 1984-87 and Georgia District 2 Commissioner of Babe Ruth League from 1988-89. He was also a 30-year supporter of the Atlanta Falcons and also a long-time supporter of Columbus Cottonmouths Hockey Team.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Judith Law Middleton and his parents, Joseph L. and Kathleen S. Middleton.

He is survived by his three children, Paige Elise Middleton, Pamela Middleton Clay, Joseph Henry Middleton, Jr.; four grandchildren, Elise, Jillian, Trey and Dagan; and his brother and two sisters.
