She grew up having polio as a child and attended Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, Georgia the same time that President Franklin Roosevelt was a patient there. She was about to be placed in an iron lung, however, her body was strong enough to avoid it. She often said her time at Warm Springs were some of her happiest memories. She loved both riding and drawing horses as she was skilled at both. A wonderful soul, Judith will be missed dearly.
Judith is survived by her daughter; Phoebe Hacking, grandchildren; Tonya Harmon, Alaisha Clayton, and Gloria Hacking, a sister; Shannon Candler (Peter), one niece, and several nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother; Emmy Lou Parker Illges, her father; Norman Shannon Illges, her maternal grandparents; Emmy and Thomas Parker, her fraternal grandparents; Dorothy and John Paul Illges Sr., and her sister; Susie Illges Lanier.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow the service. Family will visit with friends and family in the fellowship hall after services.
