Kathryn Frances Grier passed away on January 13, 2024 at BlueGrass Personal Care Home in Douglasville, Georgia at the age of 88. She was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 12, 1935 to the late Myrta Teal Robinson and Fred M. Robinson. Kathryn was married to the late Donald Hubert Grier and together they called Columbus home. She worked and managed a photography studio at Fort Benning in the shopping mall for many years. She later worked with Olan Mills, Inc. as a photographer and after leaving Olan Mills she worked with the Muscogee County School District as a paraprofessional.
Kathryn was Christian by faith and attended Eastside Assembly of God in Columbus. She enjoyed singing, shopping and her grandchildren, they were her universe. Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
She is survived by her sons: Ray (Elaine) Grier and Randy (Patti) Grier; her grandchildren: Michelle Daniels, Tim Hill, Jamey Grier, Kevin Grier, Randall Grier, and Kristy Grier; her great-grandchildren: Megan Carpenter, Jake Carpenter, Macey Hill, Gracy Grier, Shevin Grier, Melihya Daniels, Devin Grier, and Madison Coker; her great great-grandchildren: Charlotte Carpenter and Rebecca Carpenter; her daughter-in-law, Tracy Grier; her son-in-law, Ronny Purks; and other family members and friends to mention a few who were very dear to her heart: Brenda Roberts, Nancy Carter, Carolyn Smith, Peggy Strickland, Janice Brown, Linda Davis and Cheryl Carter.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Myrta Teal Robinson and Fred M. Robinson; her husband Donald Hubert Grier; her daughter, Pam Grier Purks; her son, Keith Grier; her granddaughter, Jennifer Carpenter; her brother, Fred Robinson; and her sister, Loretta Netherland.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM for immediate family and 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM for extended family, friends and special guest. A service to celebrate her life will be held after the visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
