Kathryn Spann Hollis, born on June 4, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 76. A beloved, devoted, and faithful individual, Kathy's presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
Kathy spent her early years in Sellersburg, Indiana. Her life was marked by a commitment to service and care for others. She graduated with a degree in Social Work from Asbury College in Kentucky. Aside from all the wonderful, devoted years of being a sister, mom, and grandmother, she also retired from the Muscogee County School System, where she dedicated her career to working as a Para-professional with special needs children. Her work was a testament to her compassionate nature and her unwavering dedication to the betterment of others’ lives.
Kathy's family was central to her life. She is survived by her three children: Aaron Stephen Hollis of Columbus, Georgia; Anna Kathryn Knight, married to Eddie, of Phenix City, Alabama; and Dr. Branning Isaiah Hollis, married to Dr. Mona Kardani, of Tampa, Florida. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Graylon Ross Knight, Ella Kathryn Knight, Daniel Hollis, and Oliver Hollis. Her family was a source of immense pride and joy for her.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Kathy is survived by her brother, Eddie Spann, married to Rosemary, of New Jersey, and her sister, Susan Taheri, married to Tony, of Georgia.
Kathy was a longtime member of North Highland Church and was active in the church choir. Her faith and devotion were evident in her involvement and the relationships she cultivated within the church.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2025 in the Fisher Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA with Reverend Brad Lacy, Reverend Dennis Lacy and Reverend Robert French officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Kathy will be laid to rest in Parkhill Cemetery, located at 4161 Macon Road, Columbus. Her legacy of love, devotion, and faithfulness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
