Lamar “Popeye” Green

Visitation will be 1:00 pm, Sunday, October 29, 2017 in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm, in Edgewood Hall, with Reverend Norman Waddell officiating.

Mr. Green was born August 23, 1937 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Charlie and Waurene Green.. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife; Peggy Green, a grandson; Will McVay, and three brothers; Raleigh Gerald Green, Edwards J. "Sonny" Green, and Wayne Green. Mr. Green was retired from the Ledger-Enquirer and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. He was a Past Master of Muscogee Lodge and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 484 F&AM.

He is survived by his children; Lamar (Patricia) Green, Jr., Pam (Roger) Hendrix, Amanda (Bob) McVay and Rodney (Renita) Dukes, one sister; Zonelle Taylor, a brother; Herman (Audrey) Green, seven grandchildren; Amber, Justin, Peytanne, Mary Elizabeth, Branden, Brett and Heather, four great-grandchildren; Annaleigh, Kayleigh, Kayli and James, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
