Larry Seward White, 71, of Columbus, GA, passed away on June 3, 2021. The family will receive family and friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a funeral service at Wynnton United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Burial, with immediate family, will follow the service at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend J. Grantham officiating.
Larry was born on March 4, 1950 in Columbus, GA to the late Ritchie Moore White, Sr. and Maude Elizabeth Mitchell White. He graduated from the University of West Georgia in 1972 with a BBA. Following his graduation he joined his late brother Ritchie Moore White in the family businesses where he worked for 25 years, The White Company and White’s Bookstore. In 2001 he started his own business when he opened a Mellow Mushroom, where all of his children worked over the years. Larry was an active member of Wynnton United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Joyful Noises Sunday School Class. Other civic activities include Columbus Jaycees where Larry served a term as Vice President and received a Keyman Award. He was loved dearly and treasured time spent with family and friends.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Sharon Ross White of Columbus, GA; three children, Ross Moreland White and his wife, Cami, Mitchell Benjamin White and his wife Amy, Molly White Weeks and her husband Alton Weeks, all of Columbus, GA; seven grandchildren, Alexia, Desiree, Katelyn, Addison, Olivia, Lawson and Jacob, whom he loved very much; two brothers, the late Ritchie Moore White, Jr., and William Alton White; one sister, Betsy White Amon; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, those so desiring may make donations to a charity of their choice or to the Wynnton United Methodist Church, Columbus Hospice, or the Savannah Grande Assisted Living of Columbus.
