Lessie Whittaker, age 73, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020. A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Celebration of Lessie's life will follow at 1:30 PM. Afterwards, a Committal Service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Lessie was born May 2, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia to Annie Irene Wise and Joseph Earnest Wise. She was a life-long resident of Columbus and graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. Lessie was a member of Cascade Hills Church and faithful steward for Christ. She loved the Lord and her family. She taught them by example to have faith in Jesus, manage their finances, and how to be a responsible adult. Lessie enjoyed reminiscing and laughing about her youth with her grandchildren. Mrs. Lessie Whittaker will forever be remembered as a faithful Christian, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Lessie’s mother, Annie Irene Wise; father, Joseph Earnest Wise; and brothers, J.C. Hart and Frank Hart, preceded her in death. She is survived by son, Chris Banker (Alix); son, Brandon Banker (Kristin); and stepson, Jay Banker; granddaughters, Lindsay Claire Banker, Peyton Banker, Scarlett Banker, Natalie Banker, Carley Banker; and grandson, Brayden Banker; sister, Hazel Dixon; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends to cherish her memory.
