Lloyd Murphy

Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Lloyd Murphy, 88, of Columbus, GA passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017 under the care of Gentiva Hospice. The family will welcome guests for visitation Thursday, March 2, 2017 6:00-8:00 pm in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. Grave side services will be Friday, March 3, 2017 1:00 pm in Parkhill Cemetery 4161 Macon Rd.

Mr. Murphy was born July 14, 1928 in Henry County, AL to his late parents Clarence and Myrtle Bevel Murphy. He retired from Bruce Tile Co.as a Sheet Metal Lather and was past Secretary and Treasurer of the Lather’s Union. Lloyd was a very humble man that enjoyed helping others build projects. His favorite past time, was boating and being on the water, or near the beach. Most of all, Mr. Murphy’s passion was his family. He loved family gatherings and being with his children and grandchildren as they loved to be with him.

Other than his parents Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Lorene Murphy, and his brother Marlyn Murphy. Those left to cherish his memory are: daughters Yvonne Meek(Bobby Nix) and Cathy (Richard) Thrower both of Phenix City, AL; sisters Myra Hopper and Nyla (Grady) Vinson; grandchildren Chris (Amy) Brant of Columbus, Kevin (Aleta) Brant of Phenix City, Justin (Brianna) Daugherty of Phenix City, and Stacy (Matt) Johnson of Denver, CO; great grandchildren Ansley, Kevin, Cohen, and Christian; special friend Lula, nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
