

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dowie was born in Glasgow, Scotland on October 10, 1923 to the late William Murdoch and Margaret Dunlop Murdoch. She has lived in Columbus for the past 45 years and was a member of the Main Post Protestant Chapel. Mrs. Dowie served her country in World War II in the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS) and was a Red Cross Volunteer for 25 years.
She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great grandmother, and was loved by all.
Her husband Donald D. Dowie, Sr., granddaughter, Christy D. Moore and grandson, Brandon Murdoch Mailman preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Donna D. Richey (Steve) of Leesburg, FL, Jean D. Pritchard (Jack) of Springfield, VA, Donald D. Dowie, Jr. of Atlanta, GA., David D. Dowie (Rhonda) of Greenville, SC, Derek D. Dowie (Rose) of Tallahassee, FL, Denise D. Mailman (Pete) of Columbus, GA, and Dale D. Dowie of Smiths, AL. Grandchildren, Steve and Matthew Richey, Jack Pritchard (Tina), Jeremy Pritchard (Michele), Jennifer Knight (David), Dustin Dowie, Danielle Dowie, Nic Mailman (Tiffany) and Maggie and Madison Dowie, great grandchildren, Bryant Richey, Betty and Jackie Pritchard, Rhys Pritchard, Molly and Sean Moore and Adelyn and Smith Knight.
