Margaret Hammack

Margaret was born on November 26, 1944, in Columbus, Ga, to the late Ruby Leigh Adkins McCrary and Hubert Ware McCrary.

Margaret was of the Christian faith and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Fortson, GA. She enjoyed reading, loving on all her animals, eating her favorite foods at McDonalds and spending time with her beloved mother, sisters, niece Linda Storey and her family. She was an avid supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as she was a nurturer of all animals.

She is survived by her niece, Linda Susan Storey (Jack), her nephew, Ronald Leon Shepard; her great nieces, Angie L. Viteri (John) and Kayla D. Tramel; her great nephew, Justin Tramel and many nieces, nephews and loving friends and family and the Lawless and Slappy family of Fortson, GA who helped her so much throughout her lifetime.

Along with her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters; Betty Ann McCrary Robinson and Rotha Sue McCrary Shepard (Leon), her nieces, Jean Carol Shepard and Anita Ann Shepard Kurth (John).

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, in the St. Elmo room, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
