Columbus, GA- Margaret "Peggy" Pease Jenkins, 85, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Columbus. She was born on June 15, 1929 to Margaret Andrews Pease and Jack Jones Pease; had two brothers, the late Jack Jones Pease, Jr. and Thomas Andrews Pease. Her early education was in the Columbus Public Schools, and following her graduation from Columbus High School, she attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, and the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. On September 19, 1958, she married McLendon (Mack) Wash Jenkins. Mrs. Jenkins was active in many local organizations and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2014, from 4:00-7:00 pm, at the home of Margaret and John Schley, 1527 Forest Avenue. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014, 11:00 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, followed by a private family committal service officiated by Reverend Dr. Shane Green and Reverend John Fugh.
Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her daughter, Margaret Jenkins Schley and her husband, John; three sons, McLendon Wash Jenkins, Jr. and his wife, Celia, Jack Pease Jenkins and his wife, Fontaine, and William Wimberly Jenkins and his wife, Wendi; nine grandchildren, Mary Margaret Schley, George Schley, Jack Schley, Isabel Schley, McLendon Wash Jenkins, III, Mollie Jenkins, William Jenkins, Jack Jenkins, and Sutton
Jenkins. She also leaves a devoted circle of family and friends.
