A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gammell will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 20, 2022 in the Porter Chapel at First Baptist Church of Columbus. Dr. Jimmy Elder will be officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Porter Chapel.
Mrs. Gammell was born May 22, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Raymond and Josephine Protano Marino. She graduated from Jordan Vocational High School. Mrs. Gammell was a member of First Baptist Church and the AGAPE Sunday School Class. She worked as a Realtor and was in Fine Jewelry sales. Mrs. Gammell was also an accomplished soloist in the Columbus area. She sang at many wedding and other functions. She also loved to cook and be with her family. Mrs. Gammell will be remembered for her generosity to others. If you knew her, you were her friend, and she cared for you.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gammell was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Evans Gammell; her son, William Edward Gammell; two brothers, Vincent Marino and Nicholas Marino; one aunt, Beatrice Protano.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jo Jones and her husband, Alvie of Columbus, GA, and Carlene Massari and her husband John of Newnan. GA; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Albright, Kate Ledford and her husband, Joe, and Evan Massari; four great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and many friends.
