Marion George Pearce III

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Tommy Bradford, will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia. Family will receive and visit with friends after the service until 6:00 p.m.

Marion George Pearce III was born on September 28, 1953 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Wanda Hope Chambers Pearce and Marion George Pearce, Jr. He was a graduate of Hardaway High School and received a Master’s Degree from Georgia Tech in 1976. Mr. Pearce was employed with Swift Denim for over thirty years and worked at the Columbus Water Works from 2007 until the time of his passing. He had a heart for service, which led him to be a Rotarian in the East Columbus Rotary Club, the sound technician for several local churches, and an officer of the PTA at Gentian Elementary School for many years. George was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

His legacy includes his devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Carol Edwards Pearce, three loving children: Jeffery Alan Pearce, Michael Andrew Pearce, and Christie Ellen Pearce Rhodes, along with her husband William Parker Rhodes; his sister, Nancy Pearce McKee, her husband Pat and their children, Mallory and Ryan; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
