

Martha McGlaun Vardeman, age 81, resident of Waverly Hall, Georgia, died on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Vista Care Hospice. Columbus. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Thursday, April 18, 2013, 3 p.m. with Reverend Don Wolfgang and Reverend Alan McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Vardeman, daughter of the late David Evans McGlaun and Bama Frances Akins, was born December 9, 1931 in Cusseta, Georgia. She retired from Hatcher-Stubbs Law Firm where she faithfully served for over 48 years as a legal secretary retiring in 2002. Mrs. Vardeman was a member of Waverly Hall United Methodist Church and Waverly Hall Women’s Civic Club. She was actively involved in several activities within the church and community for many years.
Mrs. Vardeman was preceded in death by her husband, Roderick Dhu Vardeman, Jr.; a twin-sister, Frances Caldwell; and two brothers, David McGlaun and James McGlaun. She is survived by one daughter, Jan Vardeman of Waverly Hall, Georgia; one son, Rod Vardeman,III and his wife Kim of Lawrenceville, Georgia; two sisters, Kathryn Kelly of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Barbara Boone of Thousand Oaks, California; one granddaughter, Ramona Vardeman of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Martha Anne Love of Waverly Hall, Georgia; one brother-in-law, John Caldwell and his wife Dolly of Knoxville, Tennessee; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
