Mary Agnes "Cissie" Crumpler Simmons

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Gerard Schreck officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. A private interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the funeral home. A rosary will be held following the visitation.

Cissie was born on August 30, 1944 to the late Agnes and Ocie Crumpler in Columbus, Georgia. She was the loving wife of Dr. B. Russell Simmons of Columbus for 45 years. She was a long time member of the Medical Auxiliary, worked as a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital for several years, was a board member of the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home for ten years and was a volunteer at Clubview Elementary School and Richards Middle School.

She was a long time member of St. Anne Catholic Church.

Cissie was preceded in death by a daughter, Chapel Shalom Simmons.

Survivors include her husband, B. Russell Simmons, four wonderful children, Tara Simmons Pepper, Shannon Simmons Klein (Ronnie), Jason Russell Simmons (Abby) and Lauren Simmons Jones, ten wonderful grandchildren, Noah, Cade and Bridge Pepper, Nora, Cavan and Lila Klein, Hannah, William and Tucker Simmons and Veda Jones with another grandchild expected in January.

She is also survived by five siblings, Ken Crumpler (Kathy), Jack Crumpler (Vicki), William R. Crumpler, Leslie Mock (Terry), Cathy Walker (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
