Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. with Reverend Dan MacMinn officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
Paddy was born in Columbus, GA. on May 19, 1929 to the late Frederick Haskins and Magdalena Strecker Haskins. Paddy graduated from the University of North Carolina. She taught school for over 40 years having taught English at Columbus Junior High and then served as the Librarian at Fox Elementary School.
Paddy had a loving passion towards life, family and friends, a spirit for volunteering and she faithfully supported many organizations that were close to her heart. Paddy enjoyed fellowship through painting, art, gardening, reading, and golfing. She was a sustaining member of the Teaching Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, The Students’ Club, Columbus Artist Guild and the Harris County Women’s Club. Paddy was a member of the Cataula United Methodist Church and former member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Paddy was preceded in death by her husband, Lyman Burton Blackmar Sr. and a sister, Joyce Miller.
Survivors include her three children, son, Fredrick L. Blackmar (Debby), their children, Sarah Catherine Walker (Andrew), Fredrick Benjamin Blackmar (Angie) and Anna Fay Blackmar Graves, daughter, Lil Blackmar Jones (Dennis), their children, Ashley Jones, Leigh Anne Jones, Micah Jones and Tyler Jones (Emily) and son, Lyman Burton Blackmar, II (Kristen) and their children, Burton Blackmar and Marie Blackmar, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cataula United Methodist Church or the Valley Rescue Mission .
