Cocoa Beach, Florida- Miriam Hudson Shepherd passed away Tuesday, May 27 in her Cocoa Beach, Florida home.
Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Saturday, May 31, 2014, 11 a.m. with Reverend Andy Merritt officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Parkhill Cemetery where she rest beside her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Johnnie Shepherd. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6-8 p.m.
A long-time Columbus resident and business owner, she is noted as a servant of the Lord and prayer warrior. Her warm smile and big heart enamored her to all. A member of Edgewood Baptist Church and former Sunday School teacher, Miriam exemplified Christian life and love in her actions and advice. She was a stand-out basketball player for the Leroy Bears at her high school in Alabama.
"Mi" is survived by her; children Cheryl Bartoszek (Joe) of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Austin Shepherd of Pine Mountain, Georgia and Edie Salyer (Richey) of Columbus; her younger sister Earline Foster of Alabama; her grandchildren, Jarrod and Austin Bartoszek; Justin and Rachel Shepherd; and Alex and Ethan Salyer; scores of adoring nieces, nephews and faithful friends.
Her family thanks Vitas Hospice and The Magnolia House staff in Cocoa Beach for helping in her final days.
